Someone recently started using our company's main brand as a "domain name." They're diverting business to a competitor. Can we stop them?

You should be able to stop that company fairly easily.  The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers ("ICANN") coordinates the domain name system.  Owners of domain name registrations must follow ICANN's Uniform Domain Name Resolution Dispute Policy ("UDRP"). Disputes from allegations of abuse usually can be resolved through an inexpensive administrative procedure using an approved UDRP forum. The procedure normally lasts 3-5 months. Success rate is extremely high.
